07 Mar 2023 Club Meeting - Speaker: Ken Tingley, author of "La Mar 07, 2023 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM Ken Tingley of Glens Falls, author of "Last American Newspaper", has been confirmed to speak at the March 7 meeting via Zoom. The Last American Newspaper: An Institution in Peril, Through the Eyes of a Small-Town Editor This book reveals what is happening in small communities across the United States as their newspapers struggle to survive. It is a celebration not just of journalism, but of the inspirational people who do it and the news and events of small towns. Importantly, it asks the question: who will be the community watchdog of the future? This book memorializes the American newspaper through the story of the Post-Star of Glens Falls, NY. The author, a devoted veteran of the Post-Star, compiles a series of vignettes that depict the newspaper's coverage over the years. They provide a glimpse behind the newsroom curtain through the stories of the investigative journalism done in small towns. 14 Apr 2023 Tag-Less Sale Donation Drop Off Apr 14, 2023 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS! Donations can be dropped off on Friday, April 14th from 3:00 PM - to 6:00 PM at the VFW on Boynton Ave.. To make other arrangements for donations please call Joan at 518-441-1818. All items must be in clean working condition We will be looking over the items to be sure we feel we can sell them. We won't be able to look over every item but we need to scan the items better than we have in the past. We have to stress to donors that we can't take items that we don't feel we can sell. As much as we appreciate them we know what sells, and what doesn't and we can't incur an expense to help get rid of these items. Items we will not accept are: Beds - This includes mattress, frame, and head/footboards Computers Clothing - We will take shoes, coats, and hats Exercise Equipment Children's car seats - They can be outdated and we don't want to be responsible for anyone getting hurt. Refrigerators or Freezers Volunteers Needed! If you are interested in volunteering for this event or joining Rotary...message us!
